"After finding out the devastating news of how much my insurance was going to go up, I called State Farm for a quote.
I spoke with Georgina and not only did she give me a quote, it she informed me of things I wasn't aware of to get my amount down.
She was thorough and patient and offered me a great quote as well as the addition of home rental insurance.

"Georgina was both very helpful and very prompt. I came from out of state and learned that despite not owning a car, I would still need car insurance in North Carolina. Over the phone, Georgina was able to explain these different and unfamiliar non-owner driver insurance policies. Within fifteen minutes, I had the policy I needed. It was great to talk to a real person who could answer all my questions quickly and sell me the exact insurance I needed without my needing to create passwords and click through apps."

"I have been with State Farm - Rick Babusiak’s office since approximately 2000 for my home and earlier than that for my car. I filed a claim which took forever to get started because I was transferred to several different people at the claims department. I didn’t realize the local office doesn’t file/handle claims. I didn’t find the staff particularly helpful re: process.
My file was denied based on the fact the equipment that was responsible for the water leak was “old”. My house was built in 1986 - everything is old. The plumbing person had to cut two holes in my closet to replace the pipes. Overall, the cost for everything was approximately $2100.00. I am disappointed they didn’t cover a portion of the cost. I called the local office to complain and they do not handle claims and wanted to transfer me back to claims."

While claim decisions are made by State Farm’s Claims Department rather than our local agency, our job is to help our customers understand the process, answer questions, advocate when appropriate, and make sure everything has been reviewed correctly. From what you’ve described, it sounds like we could have done a better job helping explain everything, and for that I apologize.
Every claim is unique, but in general, homeowners policies often distinguish between damage caused by a sudden and accidental water event, such as a burst pipe, and damage resulting from a slow or repeated leak. I don’t want to speculate on your specific claim here, but I’d appreciate the opportunity to review it with you personally.
I’ll reach out to you so we can go through everything together, answer any questions you have, and see if there’s anything further we can do to help.
